Messengers on Cycles - A cycling event is hosted every year by Sense International India to commemorate Helen Keller’s birthday which is on 27th June. The proceeds from this challenge are earmarked for this non-profit organisation, spreading the much-needed awareness about ‘Deafblindness’- Messengers on Cycles provides us with a platform to highlight the needs, concerns, and rights of the children & the adults with deafblindness and raise funds to support their communication, education, nutrition, and their livelihood needs. This year Messengers On Cycles, will be conducted as a special edition event for Cycle For Good and the challenge while YouTooCanRun will be the RaceManagement Partner for the event.
Helen Keller, was a renowned author, political activist, and lecturer who went on to become one of the most celebrated personalities in history. In spite of being deafblind, she was able to break barriers and conquer the world. She was arguably the world's most well-known person with deafblindness, and the first to gain quality education by overcoming her deafblindness. Keller was a prolific author, writing 14 books and hundreds of speeches and essays on topics ranging from animals to Mahatma Gandhi. Keller campaigned for those with disabilities, for women’s suffrage, labor rights, and world peace. American educator Helen Keller overcame the adversity of being blind and deaf to become one of the 20th century's leading humanitarians, as well as co-founder of the ACLU. Helen Keller showed the world that deafblind people can do great things. She wrote many books; the most famous one is ‘The Story of My Life.
